#FarewellCaptain

I have been a sports fan my entire life. As I have explained many-a-times. Like most sports fans you have your favorites, and in New York we LIVE for our favorite teams. Eat.Sleep.Breathe. our favorites. When it comes to baseball, the Yankees are my boys. They just scream All American good old baseball team and the history is through the roof. Like myself, if you are a baseball fan you are very aware that this season was Derek Jeter's final season as a professional baseball player. After 20 seasons he has decided to hang up his pinstripes and retire. Sad. Sad is a very understated word to describe the feelings of New York Yankees fans. Let me explain.

Mr. Jeter was not only a great ball player, we was a legend, a champion, a kind hearted class act guy. If only the world had more of him. I bet all the ladies of the world wouldn't mind that right?!!! Seriously, he was one of those athletes that never caused a ruckus, never had a bar fight or a dirty scandal - nothing. He was a great guy, and still is. I say it is sad because he was such a role model to many young people, in NY and in the country. I remember growing up and all the guys would compare themselves to Derek Jeter "I want to play like Derek Jeter!" or "Did you see that catch/jump/hit/slide/double play by Jeets last night?!!". He is exactly what a parent hopes their son will grow up to be.

He will be very missed on that field and I hope he doesn't completely disappear from the world completely. I understand he needs his privacy and wants to settle down and all that, but we all love him too!!

And if he had to end his season last night any better, I'd say it was fixed. Derek Jeter ended with a walk off single to WIN the game. Amazing. I am happy to be a Yankee fan and happy to have had Derek Jeter on our team for the last 20 years.

Farewell Captain. You had a good run.

Derek Jeter's nephew salutes him - precious.

Happy Friday! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

  2. I remember a couple years ago when Barbara Walters interviewed her as one of her "10 Most Fascinating People" that year. I never knew much about him before that, but I remember it was a super interesting interview.
